Computer Registry Scan
The scan of our test system ran for 12 minutes and discovered 929 errors in total, these included empty registry keys, corrupt file/path references, missing short cuts and lots more. Registry Easy found the largest amount of errors of all the registry cleaners we tested and in a fairly quick scan time.

New Interface and Features
Registry Repair Pro has recently been updated and now includes extra features, works with Vista and has a more user-friendly interface. The error definition database has also been expanded and the application now runs more smoothly and efficiently.

Computer Registry Scan
The scan of our system detected 827 errors in total, you can view all of the errors found in your system after the scan. The scan time was quicker than previous versions but still fairly long compared to other registry cleaners, the total time taken was 31 minutes. The lengthy scan times were to be expected as the software has a large error definition database (over 60,000)
to check against your computer.
After the scan is complete you can either check over the errors or let the Intelligence System determine which files should be repaired. We checked some of the errors and all of them were safe to remove.

However it is definitely time well spent, after the process is complete it feels as if you have just reinstalled your operating system, the lag of a system that has been used for several years seems to vanish, everything seems to run that bit quicker, the optimizer is a great feature of Registry Repair Pro, it should be used every month to keep your PC finely tuned and running at maximum efficiency.

Scan Registry: This feature will perform a deep scan of your registry to locate any problems or errors, you will then be provided with detailed information about any detected problems, Registry Mechanic will then repair the errors if possible and delete the junk files that inhabit your registry.
Optimise Your System: This feature which, at the click of a button, applies a set of tweaks and patches directly into the Windows Registry that are designed to improve system performance.
Compact the Registry: The ability to compact the Windows Registry for optimised system performance, Registry Mechanic now incorporates a registry compacting feature, which analyses, rebuilds and compacts the Windows Registry by removing registry gaps, free space and corrupt keys.
Registry Scan and Optimise
The full system scan was 22 minutes in total, slowly than two of the other Registry cleaners we tested. Still a reasonable time though for a full system scan, considering our test system is several years old and cluttered with all types of invalid files.
The scan discovered a total of 623 errors within our registry, slightly lower than Registry Easy and XP Repair Pro, but still a large amount of errors.
Registry Mechanic makes a backup of the registry before you make any repairs so that you can easily recover any changes if required.
The optimise and compact registry functions were also tested, these features take some time to perform (about 45 min's), but after the operations were complete we noticed a definite increase in system performance, applications opened more swiftly, windows in general now runs more smoothly and boot up times have also decreased, both of these features are very useful if you are looking to increase your systems performance.

Registry Mechanic is a very competent registry cleaner, it did take slightly longer and discovered less errors than the XP Repair Pro and Registry Easy. However it does have two excellent functions for optimising the registry, both of these had a significant effect on system performance.

Registry Fix uses a high-performance detection algorithm to quickly identify missing and invalid references in your Windows registry.
The program interface is simple in design and easy to use. A single click will launch the Windows Registry scan function, when completed you are presented with a list of errors detected, the list displays information of each error and location. Registry Fix creates a backup of your Registry prior to deleting errors, this is useful as if there are any problems encountered a simple click will reverse the deleted files.
The scan of our system revealed just 226 errors on the same test PC, compare this to XP Repair Pro which revealed 827 errors, it seems that Registry Fix is missing plenty of errors on our system.
Registry Fix does scan for many different errors including corrupt registry keys, obsolete file paths, redundant shortcuts and many more. However Registry Fix lacks the features and functions of the other registry cleaners we tested, it also lacks a registry optimise feature which is essential if you wish to streamline your registry, without this your system is not operating at maximum efficiency.
Reg Fix Summary
Registry fix was quick to install and set up. The Interface is simple and easy to use. It includes the essential registry backup feature but lacks the functions of the other registry cleaners we have tested. The scan was a little disappointing revealing far less errors than the other registry cleaners.
